All New 2011 Smart forspeed Concept

Remember those leaked patent renderings that surfaced after New Years? Turns out it was no joke, as Smart has revealed the Forspeed concept car. Poised to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 10 days, the Forspeed concept is an electric powered roadster. The roofless design is reminiscent of the Smart Crossblade from 2002 but don't be fooled, this is only a diversion of its true purpose - to preview the design of the next-generation fortwo and resurrected forfour five-door models. In an interview with Mercedes head of design, Steffen Kohl told Auto Express, "Look at the fullness of the car's exterior surfaces. This is important and will be reflected in future production models". The Forspeed is powered by a 40bhp (40 PS / 30 kW) electric motor mounted in the rear and has a range of 84 miles (135 km). There is also a 7bhp (7 PS / 5 kW) overboost feature which is activated by a flick of a switch. Top speed is 75 mph (120 km/h). Exterior features include a honeycomb mesh grille, LED headlamps, photovoltaic solar cells in the base of the windscreen and a hidden plug-in socket under the smart badge on the rear which leads down to a lithium-ion battery. Like current smart models the interior pursues a "downsized premium" design as seen in the exposed mounting bolts in the door panels, center console and steering wheel. However, the shiny plastics with brushed aluminum and brown and green leather accents focus your attention elsewhere. For the gadget saavy, smart has included a ...

New Smart Pill Caps Remind You to Take Your Meds

Transcript by Newsy.com BY SAMANTHA MCCLENDON You're watching multisource tech news analysis from Newsy Your phone's ringing. It could be your mom, dad, or your pill bottle? Well that could be the case if you choose to buy the world's first Internet-connected medication packaging. CBS says AT&T's Vitality GlowCap is designed to help forgetful patients take their meds. "Inventor David Rose says it uses a flashing light and ring tone to gently remind patients to take their medication. If that doesn't work, it goes one step further." "And if you haven't opened it within a few hours, it will text message you, or send you an email, or dial your home phone." "The GlowCap also keeps family members and doctors in the loop, emailing them a record of exactly when a patient took their pills." But is it too much? The Wall Street Journal quotes a an elderly woman who thinks so. "She says she wouldn't mind the lights and noises, but emails to her doctor or family would 'make me feel inept, or like I was being regarded as a child.' And her low-tech seven-day pill boxes...work fine'..." But WTVJ reports - Not everyone thinks this is a bad idea. "I mean think about the peace of mind that that will offer you to know that you can keep tabs on family members and get that progress report and know when they are or not taking their medication." "Perfect example of taking an every day item and by wirelessly enabling it, making it much more useful and valuable to the end user." The GlowCap even ...

Casio EP-20 - not seriously?

True, I tend to prefer more powerful synths. But jamming along on this tiny squeak-box is still fun. Although not easy on a babysize plastic-keyboard. - Can you find the hidden Muppets show tune? It's in the clip. Hidden in time. Really! - the [multitracked] sound improvisations were performed live on the Casio EP-20 only - except for one additonal drum looping plugin to fatten up the groove in one passage. The video is a playback performance and is meant to distract you from the sound. - The fingering technique in the video? Spectacular, I know. :D - Circuit bending? Maybe later. - Destroying it with a blender / sledgehammer / shotgun / firecracker / acid / high voltage / truck and putting the video on youtube? Aw, no, how can you even think of such a thing? ;-) - For sale? No. My price would be unrealistic. The Casio EP-20 of 1987 was basically a kiddie's version of the Casio PT-82. Yeah, I had to look that up, too. Casio were not very successful in the professional synthesizer market, probably because of their reputation as a manufacturer of cheap electronic gadgets. * more info on these machines: weltenschule.de No keyboards and fingers were harmed during the making of this clip.
